Victor, MT
Real Estate & Community Guide

Home of the Victor Pirates, the Victor Steakhouse, and Victor Crossing—one of the Bitterroot's favorite spots to cast a line—Victor is a small, rural community in the southern Bitterroot Valley. Named in honor of Chief Victor of the Bitterroot Salish, the town was originally platted as Garfield in 1881 before taking the name Victor later that year. Its early growth was shaped by the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1887, along with the mining, timber, and agricultural industries that helped build the community.

Today, Victor retains its practical, unpretentious characther and close-knit sense of community. Most of the town sits west of Highway 93, which runs directly through the community and connects residents to Hamilton to the south and Missoula to the north. A bank, post office, gas stations, local bars and restaurants, specialty shops, churches, a neighborhood park, and Victor's K-12 school give the community its own identity and local services.

Beyond the town center, Victor's agricultural roots are still evident. The surrounding countryside offers a mix of rural homes, agricultural acreage, and mountain views, while the town itself provides a convenient stopping point along the Highway 93 corridor.
